Area 8 Polocrosse Camp 2020
Area 8 Polocrosse Camp 2020
We are delighted to be able to announce that for the fifth year Area 8 will be running a weekend Polocrosse camp. This weekend is open to all; children and adults, Pony Club members and non members, beginners and regular players. We welcome attendees form outside Area 8.
Taking place at Mark Tey Racecourse, just off the A12 near Colchester, Essex on the 16th and 17th May, the weekend will consist of polocrosse training, introduction to the sport for the newcomers and their horses, on foot skills and drills, fun chukkas for those who want to and plenty of time to make new friends and socialise. The Sunday will also host the fifth Area 8 Pony Club Champs Polocrosse Qualifier for those wishing to attend Champs. Champs run a Novice Polocrosse tournament and this is open to the most novice of players. So, if you have always fancied representing your Pony Club at Champs but the qualification has evaded you this could be your chance.
We already have the following coaches confirmed:
Iain Heaton - Arden A Grade player and UKCC Level 3 coach. Iain coaches all over the UK and indeed the world and is the Chairman of the Pony Club Polocrosse committee.
Chris Milburn - Arden A Grade player and UK Player Development Pathway coach. Chris coached the Pony Club England team at the Home International 2017.
Andy Garrow - Kent Target B Grade player and Executive umpire. Andy is one of the mainstays of the Kent Target coaching team and can't ever so no to that extra umpiring slot!
Charlotte Winder - Kent High Goal player and Polocrosse Coordinator for Pony Club Area 12.
Camping is available by very kind permission of the land owners in lorries, tents or caravans provided by yourself with penning for horses in electric fence pens, also provided by yourself.
There is no pressure to play contact polocrosse and you are welcome to come along and simply enjoy learning about the sport, spending time with your horse and riding on land usually not open to riders. We are massively grateful to Fenn Wright for once again allowing us to use the Racecourse for what promises to be another fantastic weekend. The cost is £70 for the weekend or £40 per day. Also open to those without ponies for £20 per day to take part in the on foot activities and social. An early bird offer of £65 for the weekend is available to those booking before the 31st December 2019. Places are strictly limited and we would recommend booking early to avoid disappointment. (Non Pony Club or UKPA members will need a temporary UKPA membership, available here).
All under 18's must be accompanied by an adult for the entire weekend. Further information from Caro Daniels, PC Area 8 Polocrosse Coordinator on or 07802325466,
